  • The color of potassium permanganate is so deep that you hardly can see the lower menisk. Use the upper one to read the volumes. 5. Repeat the foregoing calculations for each sample titrated and determine an average value and standard deviation. Permanganate Titrations.
  • Discussion: In the lab, CO2 made during cellular respiration was removed by the potassium hydroxide (KOH) and created potassium carbonate (K2CO3). It was necessary that the carbon dioxide be removed so that the change in the volume of gas in the respirometer was directly proportional to the amount of oxygen that was consumed.

  • Experiment # 9: Optical Method of Analysis Use of Beer’s Law on a KMn04 Gregorio, Justin Edrik A. March 2013 Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering University of Santo Tomas España, Manila Abstract The purpose of this analytical laboratory experiment is to determine the unknown concentration of potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution by finding its absorbance through the ...
  • Plus, due to a pretty high level of standardization, it's much easier to compare and analyze the findings obtained using quantitative data collection The focus groups data collection method is essentially an interview method, but instead of being done 1-on-1, here we have a group discussion.
  • Lab Procedure Please print the worksheet for this lab. You will need this sheet to record your data. For this lab, Part A will be set up at your lab station. During the lab period, each pair should take turns going to the side shelf to record measurements for Part B. Part A1: Ranking Oxidizing Agents

In the last part of the experiment the percentage of iron, oxalate and water of crystallisation was found by titration of the iron(II) oxalate with potassium permanganate which is the titrant. The volume of potassium permanganate needed to react with the known volume of analyte was found. The titration was marked when a faint pink colour appeared.
A syringe was used to add potassium permanganate, one drop at a time, to the solution until a persistent pinkish brown color was obtained. The solution was gently swirled as drops were added. The amount of potassium permanganate used is proportional to the amount of hydrogen peroxide present, and was therefore used as the baseline. Data:

May 10, 2016 · Research shows that the venom is an unstable protein, with a pH of 6.0 and a molecular weight of 150,000. In vitro, it may be denatured by heat (2 min at 50 °C), acid and alkalis (pH > 9,pH < 4), potassium permanganate and Congo red . Its heat labile nature is the basis for the stonefish sting treatment.
When titrating potassium permanganate with a reducing agent why is it not favorable to add a lot of the volume of the titrant (from the burette), in a short amount of time. eg. 10 ml in 2 seconds.

Potassium (K) Equipment which are required in measurement of potassium, flame photometer, centrifuge, capable of 3000rmp and mechanical shaker Procedure A. Extraction Weigh 10g of air dry soil into a 250ml flask then add 50ml 1 N NH4OAc solution. Shake it for 30 minutes at 200-300 rpm on a reciprocate shaker.
Great attendance and several new members attending. The club was thrilled to have the AKCA Wet Lab hosted in Houston in 2014 and their President, Melanie Nau, was chosen to be the contact person and coordinator for the event. Paul Moss gave a lecture on the effective use of potassium permanganate and the dangers of overuse.
